They are available in Brisbane at www.charliesfruitmarket.com.au. You can order online or go to their shop at Everton Park, a northern suburb. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

On the Central Coast, NSW I've been able to get them in Harris Farm, Erina. You might need to ask as they move them - sometimes they are with the bananas and sometimes they are with the 'asian' produce.

You can get them at the fruit and veggie shop in the new section at Highpoint in Maribyrnong, Melbourne. I almost danced a jig when I found them. They look like large bananas and are located in the banana section, of course.

I think I found some the other day @ Armadale Fresh, they were big green bananas and in the fridge section. The assistant said they should be boiled first???!?

Even if they are cooking bananas they are still good I think! At least they still work for plantain crackers. I bought some and made crackers, and thought they tasted even better than plantains! The ones I bought were called elephant bananas or something. The sales kid called them cooking bananas.

The green grocer at Parkmore shopping centre in Noble park has them every few weeks. They only get a small amount in.

For those in the very East of Melbourne: The fabulous (non-organic) fruit and veg shop in Chirnside Park s/c has it all. Also taro. Thanks, Samantha, for the great tip.
