Hi everyone
I am feeling much more well since being mostly paleo, so I'm keen to keep it up. I'm not losing weight, though, (or not much) and I do want to. Without suffering, preferably.
I guess I'm automatically reducing my carbs just by cutting out the grains and potatoes, but I've been eating sweet potato etc (and last night was a cheat night as we went to someone's house for dinner and had pizza - nice treat, but happy to be back to normal again today - interestingly I was hungry again by the time we got home! - didn't eat, though). Apart from last night I'm probably moderate carb. I'll track though, to see. Have also reduced my fruit intake as I was probably eating too much of that. I eat very little with any added sugar these days.
Anyway, I'm trying to work out the most painless way to lose weight, and I keep reading about success in low carbs. More specifically I've been looking at the low carb high fat thing (a la Tim Noakes). Tim Noakes says that once you go low carb you can't go back, as you'll gain it all back and then some. But isn't that what typically happens when you diet anyway? I'm concerned as I *do* want to lose weight, but I *don't* want to have to be totally low carb for the rest of my life. Happy to be *moderate* carb, though, in the long run. Just like sweet potato and fruit too much to give it up completely.
Does anyone have any experience with low carb to lose weight and then adding back some carbs afterward? Was it successful? Have also read somewhere that it does sometimes take (women?) a bit of time to start to lose weight after going low carb, so perhaps I'm being too impatient.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Miranda
