I have always been sick. I don't even remember a time when I wasn't sick. I have two condtions, intersititial cystitis and diabetes insipidus. The short version is that IC is a bladder condition. My bladder doesn't have the elasticity that it should, so instead of stretching, it tears. The tears get inflammed and it is painful. Some of the tears have turned into ulcers and that hurts even more. DI is a condition where m pituitary gland doesn't produce the hormones that I need in order to process water. So, when I drink fluids, they bypass the system, and exit my body. So, I am dehydrated all of the time. The solution to these problems, from a traditional medical standpoint was pills. Lots and lots of pills. 17 a day to be exact, and bladder surgery every three months for the rest of my life. I was also, at 29, faced with the possibility of a catheter. I was also told that I would never have children.
After changing to a paleo lifestyle, I am on no medications, I haven't had surgery in years, and I have two beautiful children. (A third is on the way). I still have bad days, but not nearly as many as before. I am able to live life now, and I couldn't be more thankful.
