I've read several articles on the benefits of Paleo and AIP to gallbladders. But as far as I know, my gallbladder has always been fine. I had an abdominal ultrasound this morning for some recent digestive problems. The report said I had sludge around my gallbladder. As far as I can determine, the sludge is a precursor to gallstones.
I've been gluten/dairy free for 10 years, Paleo for three, and AIP for 1 1/2 years. I eat pretty well (lots of veggies, meat/fish, and some fruits). So now I'm having gallbladder issues? Has anyone else shown a deterioration of gallbladder since starting AIP?
(I also have lupus, Sjogren's, and Hashimoto's)

Hey there! I came across your post while looking for information about AIP and gallbladder issues. I've started having symptoms out of the blue and never had any problems before this. History: I've been on AIP diet for about 7 months now and my mother had her gallbladder removed 6 years ago.
I'm hoping you have a bit of wisdom to impart. Figuring out our bodies and how to best help them is both exhilarating and frustrating at times. I am beyond grateful for the pioneers who have gone before me and discovered through trial and error what best helps the healing process.
So then, great pioneer! Any updates or information you might be willing to share?
Thanks very much!

I have no idea about the status of my gallbladder but I do sometimes feel a bit nauseous after eating high fat foods like bacon after a few months on AIP. The thought has crossed my mind that it could be gallbladder related.

Funny...I never had gallbladder issues either...start eating healthy and BAM gallbladder attacks. Having my gallbladder out in 2 weeks and concerned about continuing AIP...it's a double edge sword, cause the AIP helps tremendously with my Autoimmune arthritis issues...
