I think I need to try a strict AIP. W30 didn't really do anything for me, though I don't hav stomach issues like I did but I havent lost any wt and the pain from fibro has not decreased at all which is why I started W30. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around no eggs or coffee. I use coconut milk and oil in my coffee so I think if I can find a dark tea I could fake myself out but the eggs are the biggest thing as I eat eggs everyday. I want to commit to strict AIP for at least 30 days but I know I need to be fully prepared in order to be successful so I am goin thru everything I have now and will probably start next monday as I will go shopping this weekend. I am rereading The Paleo Approach as the first time I did I was not at all ready for it but now after W30 I'm much more prepared mentally. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

I can understand where you're coming from. I did an elimination diet for food allergies before going AIP. It helped, but I wanted to be better yet (Hashimoto's and chronic pain, which I think may have been undiagnosed fibro). It took going AIP to get me there. It is hard to wrap your head around going without so many things that are so much a part of your everyday life, but it's totally worth it! I used to eat eggs almost daily for breakfast. When I went AIP, I replaced them with liver/organ meat and made a breakfast hash with sweet potato and onions/spinach (or kale)/mushrooms etc. Totally different than the way you normal picture breakfast to be, but it made such a difference to my day! I can't really help you with the coffee problem because I was never a coffee drinker before, but I have heard that roasted chicory root or roasted dandelion root can taste like coffee and they would be AIP friendly. Start with what you enjoy that is "legal" and don't be afraid to play/experiment with new things!

When I followed strict AIP for 60 days last year I ate mostly leftovers for breakfast: meat, veggies, good fat. I would intentionally make enough dinner for one or two breakfasts. For a regular breakfast taste, I made the sausage from The Paleo Approach. As for coffee, that's really hard! I drank Tulsi (Holy Basil) tea (http://organicindiausa.com/organic-india-original-tulsi-tea/). It was ok. I was never really happy without my morning cup of joe. Good luck and remember you can always have (compliant) bacon!!

I do a lot of leftovers for breakfast too, or soup. And black tea instead of coffee - I think that the official rules are to eliminate caffeine but tea worked for me. The hardest part (ok, well one of them) was changing my expectations around what breakfast should look like. But when I stopped expecting my breakfast to look like toast, I found that eating meat and veggies for breakfast was actually way more satisfying and energizing than toast ever was. good luck!

I find eating fish and veggies, with plenty of good fats works well for breakfast. Try the "root vegetable biscuits" from Paleo Approach Cookbook. You can spread fat of choice on them, or soak up sauces. Delish. For a treat, you can put a little honey on them, too! (I eat fish daily, since I cant get grass-fed meats, and I get my omega 3's this way.) I did start AIP twice, and the second time I stuck with it. I am in reintroduction now, and some things I can have, and some things never again. Good luck to you, and do your best. As you feel better, you will get more motivation to keep it up.
