I'm just starting this whole paleo thing. Vitamin d3 is something my Dr. suggests I get more of. I read on the label of the bottle I bought the other day that it has soy... This was a bottle purchased at walmart. What brands of D3 don't have this stuff? Where do you get those other brands?
Results of latest blood food allergy test taken yesterday are not in yet. However, I'm pretty sure they'll find the same thing that was found a few years ago, that I'm allergic to soy, chicken, wheat, and corn among many other things. The skin test results are in and I'm still more or less allergic to everything out there that they test for, except for dog dander. I've tried sublingual allergy treatment before, but that was over a year ago. I had to quit it due to loosing a job and the insurance that covered em. I'm restarting this allergy thing and dieting and exercise thing in hopes that I can stick with it this time. Going in for first dose of allergy shots Tuesday. Bought The Paleo Approach and Paleo for Dummies yesterday as Doctor suggest I go Paleo, but didn't have a lot of advice on what book to go with. Trip to Barnes and Noble and reading around, these seemed to be the best ones on the shelves at the moment.

I've been following this question and am disappointed nobody has replied. I'm in the same situation. But I've found that for me, it's worth it to take the vitamin D3 even though it's in soy oil. The benefits outweigh the downside (for me). My Vit D blood levels have increased from 30,000 to 70,000 since taking the supplements and I feel much better.
I try to take a 4000 or 5000 IU pill rather than multiple smaller doses to minimize the amount of soy oil ingested. Also, soy oil seems to affect me less than soy fractions that contain soy protein (flour, beans, milk, tofu, etc.).
I wish I had a better answer for you!

I have taken Source Naturals D3 with good results, which is soy and wheat/gluten free, but it does contain maltodextrin. It's because of the maltodextrin that I have quit taking it since going AIP. Since it is soy and wheat free, I can only assume that the maltodextrin is made from corn, which might not help you as you are also allergic to corn. Sunlight is still the best way to get vitamin D, but it sure can be hard during the winter in some climates. Some foods that are high in vitamin D include fatty fish and liver. I've also heard that fermented cod liver oil is a good source of vitamin D. Hope this helps!
