Hey everyone,
I've been eating paleo strictly since January 1st. It's the best lifestyle, I have energy and fatigue is gone. Not to mention, I lost 42 lbs already (crazy awesome!).
So I had my boyfriends mother teach me how to make his favorite meal which is meatballs in red sauce. Her recipe included tiny bit of bread crumbs, sugar and lots of Romano Parmesan cheese.
Because the whole family was there for dinner and I didn't want to be rude, I ate two meatballs and sauce and figured oh well no big deal, I've been so strict this is just one goof.
Not 10 minutes after, my hands broke out in hives. Then it spread to my arms, tummy and legs. I got very nauseous as well. Then a few hours I was wheezing and having shortness of breath.
Since I'm allergic to acrylic, gel, and dyes I thought maybe someone's lotion or perfume got to me? Wasn't sure. I have mild eczema so I thought maybe that was my issue. Later on I had some loose bowels too.
Well I took Benadryl and knocked out for the night. When I woke up I was still a little itchy and wheezy, but nothing too bad. Later on at work I brought the meatballs for pot luck dinner and ate a few again. I got nauseous and wheezy but not itchy.
Now I'm going crazy! Could I have been allergic to dairy and not known if? I have eaten tomatoes for the past two months often do I don't think it's that.
Basically my question is, could a milk allergy present itself after not bring consumed for months? If anyone could give me insight that would be amazing.
Thank you!!

Oh, how awful! You can definitely react to foods after they've not been eaten for a while. You've let your guy heal a bit and your immune system has regulated. Sarah has a whole chapter on this in The Paleo Approach, page 336 "Why Do I React So Violently to a Food I Used to Eat All the Time?" Here is an excerpt for you:
