Hi, my name is Kara and I found Paleo about 8 years ago. We started our son out very paleo but as the years have gone on he's definitely been introduced to many foods I wish we hadn't!
In addition, severe ear infections left him on antibiotics for 5 months as a toddler (something else I Wish we had known more about to do differently!) Those antibiotics did nothing to help and only tubes cleared him up for good.
He is now 4 and recently diagnosed with leaky gut and a high probability of SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). He currently shows the highest levels of IgE reactions to: gluten, all dairy, most nuts, and eggs.
Its been recommended he start an antifungal, as well as the GAPS diet protocol.
I am leaning more towards starting him on the autio immune paleo because at least that allows fruit, a staple for any child. With the hopes of being able to introduce back nuts and eggs as his gut heals.
We are starting a slow transition so as not to make this so hard on him.
My questions are:
Any other moms had to do this with a child around this age? What did you pack in lunch for school? (I gather no processed meats like hot dogs or salami even if they are grass fed and organic on AIP) What are your go to snacks (regular paleo snacks (like baked nut flour products) are out right now on the AIP protocol) Our go to snack seems to be fruit, but even AIP only recommends 2 pieces of fruit a day
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!
