I am a 48 year old guy new to Paleo. I started a few weeks ago and found Paleo Mom on fb. It provided some knowledge, recipes, etc which lead me to the forum. Once again, A LOT of info, not sure where to start!! I will keep reading and eventually would like my wife and kids to start eating more Paleo. Don't really understand the difference between the the Paleo diet and AIP, if there is any.

Hi and welcome! You definitely don't have to be a mom to be here. LOL! Think of AIP as an elimination diet branch of paleo tailored to those with autoimmune disease. So it is the same basic paleo foods MINUS:

Eggs (especially the whites)

Nuts

Seeds (including cocoa, coffee and seed-based spices)

Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, sweet and hot peppers, cayenne, red pepper, tomatillos, goji berries etc. and spices derived from peppers, including paprika)

Potential Gluten Cross-Reactive Foods

Fructose consumption in excess of 20g per day

Alcohol

NSAIDS (like aspirin or ibuprofen)

Non-nutritive sweeteners (yes, all of them, even stevia)

Emulsifiers, thickeners, and other food additives
