I had been assuming that since I don't have elevated thyroid antibodies, I do not have Hashis. But now I am questioning that. thoughts? Any studies? My mom has Hashimotos.
I see a naturopath. I have a slightly enlarged thyroid. Ok TSH but slighly low thyroid levels. Low iodine. Low everything actually. I attibute that to leaky gut, though it doesn't seem to be getting better. I do take naturethroid and iodine (and B vits, and selenium, iron, antidepressants, 5htp, and misc other stuff.) I did have mono at 18 and still have off the chart titers. Some debate as to whether that means reactivated or just past infection. I am 30 lbs heavy and nearly 50 years old. Lots of water retention I can't seem to resolve. Fatigue. My adrenals are flipped. High at night and low in morning. Can't seem to fix that either.
I thought I didn't YET have an autoimmune, but am I deluding myself? Sarah's recent diagnosis is making me look at symptoms again, and yup, I still have most of them. Not sure what else I could do even if I do have Hashis. Guess I might more seriously restrict diet to AIP.
So might I actually have autoimmune Hashimoto's even without antibodies? Jenni

I am gonna answer my own question. According to the Chris Kresser ebook I just read, the answer is yes. I just am not sure that MY immune system is so suppressed it cant form antibodies. It seems to have plenty for EBV and has plenty for recent food tests I did. (Antibodies to almost everything!)
Is anyone in the same boat? What else can I try?
