My mother brought me a huge! roll of aluminum foil. I never used it much before but she showed me how she uses it like a liner to keep the baking pans clean. Then I can cook a tray of bacon (family of 6 so this is so much easier/safer than stove top) or cook whatever for dinner then throw away the liner and no pan to struggle with in my little sink. So... I like that part but worry about using aluminum especially after reading the studies showing that food cooked on aluminum contain more aluminum and there are studies connecting aluminum to health risks. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have aluminum foil, but rarely use it anymore because of the recent studies done. Dr. Mercola has an article here, but there are plenty others online articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/03/22/aluminum-toxicity-alzheimers.aspx To address your concerns specifically... 1- Clean baking pans: Parchment paper. I use it for roasting veggies and baking. But really, I'm OCD about enough things as it is... a pristine sheet pan is not high on my kitchen priority list. Ha! I wash them, dry them, and put 'em away. Yes, they're dark 2 - Bacon: I bake my bacon, too. Every day I use racks that fit on my half sheet pans perfectly. You can find them on Amazon. It keeps the bacon from swimming in the grease. When breakfast is done, I scrub the rack down and wash it. Pour the bacon grease in a mason jar with cheesecloth to catch any bits. Scrub the sheet pan and call it good. Also, when it comes to roasts or whole birds and letting them rest before carving. Instead of foil I use parchment paper and a kitchen towel on top to keep the heat in. Hope that helps!

That's why I'm trying to avoid the aluminum foil (the whole aluminum found in the brain). My baking sheets are by no means pristine, I'm just trying to avoid the whole greasy pan that doesn't fit in my sink problem. Ooo a reason to finally get a bigger sink! In the meantime I'll have to try parchment. Thinking of getting a silicon baking mat (but I need to look into that more first- not sure if silicon is really a good alternative).
