I know this doesn't help when you're in pain, but I just wanted to share that over the long term, eating Paleo has made my period pain SO much better. I used to have debilitating, sometimes vomit-inducing pain with my periods - that's all gone now.
In terms of short term help, could you get some exercise/take a walk - anything to get the blood flowing always helped me. Heating pads applied to the lower abdomen or back can also bring relief.

I also have seen major improvements with my period. It's shorter and lighter and I have absolutely no cramping {huge improvement since I would be bed ridden and vomitting at times from the pain}. I'd try bumping up the anti-inflammatory foods, arnica, heating pad, and definitely get moving. I used to do sit ups/core workouts when I had my period as a teenager and it helped relax the cramping muscles...

well ladies thank you so very much this is hopeful news. Yes I'm on the floor or couch begging for death I'm miserable can't do much of anything to be honest but lie down. Headaches, heavy flow, dizzy, vomit the whole bit, pain so intense I can barely walk at times I have crawled to the bathroom. Knowing that help is on the way is very encouraging. The older I get the worse it gets. One Dr told me I had this pain and heaviness because I was estrogen dominated and told me to take birth control pills. I didn't do the pills they scare me, so I just suffer and take 4 Midol at a time so I can function. Thank you for your tips and suggestion. Low and behold look what I found on Pinterest, lol it's worth a shot eh?

Hang in there! Yes, hope is on the horizon. Have you been tested for PCOS? I don't know much about it, but isn't painful periods a symptom? There are plenty of Paleo-oriented PCOS resources. Try to distract yourself. Get lots of sleep and take care of your body. Exercise if you're able-even just getting outside to take a walk. And heating pads can be your best friend Try a hot bath to relax your muscles. Then stick with the diet-eliminate sugar in particular-it seems to cause worse cramps in some people. And if you're having hormone issues, make sure you're eating lots of healthy fats! That will help regulate your hormones.
