My husband and I will be driving cross country, probably taking four days. What would be some good ideas to pack for food? What are some good brands of "fast" food (packaged....) from Trader Joes? We won't be able to do any cooking, so we are looking for a variety of easy ideas. Also, what would be good for snacking/crunchy ideas? Thanks Melissa

I have compiled a list on the FB Group "Paleo/AIP hosts and guests around the world": Meat/Fish jerky canned fish (in olive oil or water) bone broth (frozen, keeps cool for quite a while under "normal" weather conditions, not for long journeys) Fats olive oil coconut oil Fruit avocados oranges berries Vegetables raw vegetables like carrots, fennel, cucumbers cooked vegetables plantain chips Nuts Brazil nuts macadamia nuts coconut chips Spices turmeric garlic salt pepper lemon salad dressing in a sealed box/bottle Doughs for wraps and sandwiches www.deliciousobsessions.com/2014/06/plantain-sandwich-rounds/simpleandmerry.com/blog/aip-plantain-wraps/ myheartbeets.com/paleo-naan-indian-bread/ Cosmetics coconut oil (= body lotion! Mix with shea butter to avoid melting when traveling in hot weather, SB : CO = 4:1) homemade sunscreen homemade bug-repellent baking soda (= makes a great deo with coconut oil) Dr. Bronner's all natural soap (for EVERYthing, including toothpaste, washing clothes etc.) Supplements personal supplements green clay (for your funny tummy > drink diluted in water before/with meals to avoid gastrointestinal issues when eating unfamiliar foods) Great websites and posts about bringing along foods while you are traveling On airplanes: foodbabe.com/2014/06/27/healthy-airport-food/ Read more: thepaleomomcommunity.com/thread/686/travel-tips#ixzz3FOghm29i

Just a few additions: -Pork rinds are fabulously fatty & crunchy (just make sure the ingredients are pork skin/fat & salt only) -Jackson's Sweet Potato chips are somewhat crunchy if you can find them-we found them good for a road trip (cooked in coconut oil) -For AIP-I always bring a small container of coconut flakes whenever I travel-healthy fats! -Be careful of the ingredients in jerky-watch for soy and nightshades if you're AIP. You can easily make your own in a dehydrator or oven. -If you can bring a cooler, make ahead some burgers or meatballs. They taste just fine cold. -Dried fruit is an option-just check ingredients I personally don't buy anything pre-packaged at Trader Joe's. They tend to add ingredients I don't care to eat (preservatives, mostly). They do sell some freeze-dried fruit that would work as a snack. Just check the ingredients and make sure there's no added sugar (or other additives). Have a great trip! And just do the best you can Preparation helps, but in the end just make the smartest decisions you can. Don't stress over it

Those are okay if you're just Paleo. But I might try to find a jerky that has cleaner ingredients and/or no sugar. But at least they don't contain soy If you're AIP-no.
