My 7 yr old is allergic to chicken. We had an unsuccessful reintroduction several months ago. My question is, would a broth be easier to tolerate than the actual breaking down of the meat? For those that have meat allergy and intolerances, have you tested this and found it to be true? We make turkey and beef broth but would like to enjoy something lighter every now and again. Thank you! Dee

This is a fascinating question! I hope someone smart answers Just from a basic search, it seems some people with chicken allergies cannot tolerate broth...and some can

LOL I have so many more questions and no one to ask them to! Hopefully there is someone with a similar experience. I will eventually just test it but I'm not ready for that yet. Maybe in a few months.

Hi Dee, I am sorry your 7 year old is allergic to chicken. This allergy is so hard as chicken is THE most common meat entree! I am allergic to many things and chicken, turkey and all birds is also one of them. And no I can't tolerate chicken broth. So I eat a lot of fish and I used to make fish soup every week until everybody complained so much about the smell Now I buy rabbit at the Latin grocery store ( could also try Asian market) and cook that and use the bones to make soup. I am now learning how to raise my own meat rabbits as they are a great source of meat and very easy to raise. Hope this helps. Becky

If you "just" want it lighter you could dilute the beef and turkey broth and take off the grease after you put it in the refrigerator. Wouldn't try the chicken broth. Also, add variety to your broth by adding different things each time you have some.

Thanks for the input! Rabbit bones might be too advanced for me though. I do have a bad habit of simmering our bone broth for days. It gives the turkey broth a really thick, concentrated taste. For our next batch I'll simmer for 4-6 hrs and see how that fares.
