As someone who has a healthful smoothie for First Breakfast (a la Hobbits), I've never been totally happy with the flavor balance in mine. I always put in coconut milk, coconut oil, egg yolk, gelatin, greens, ginger, cinnamon, ACV and some fruit. I add water to make it drinkable. Today I decided to add in a smidge of Celtic Sea Salt and VOILA, perfect flavor balance! Best of all is that I kept adding ingredients and adjusting to get it right, so I had enough to freeze the excess to two more emergency smoothie rations. We're in the middle of a 2 month long remodeling project (both bathrooms) and the ubiquitous dust makes cooking and cleaning an extra pain, so I'm happy to have an easy good morning meal. I really wanted a chocolate cake donut and a maple bar with coffee, so I think I'm doing pretty well!

Great work, Sara! While I can't quite imagine how your fab smoothie would taste, it's really satisfying to hear you are happy with the results. We are big smoothie drinkers, but ours are much more traditional. Greens, fruit, banana, coconut milk, lemon. Dates as sweetener. I don't typically drink them, so we make Popsicles with the leftovers.

Smart! Salt is a great balancer/enhancer for any dish {or drink, ha!}.
