I have Hashimotos and am curious as to whether I should be consuming iodine or not. According to Dr. Datis Kharrazian iodine flames the fire of the Hashimoto's patient. But I thought I saw somewhere that Sara recommends it for proper function of the thyroid. So I am confused as to whether I should be using iodized salt or not.

Hashimotos, as you know, is an autoimmune condition. I am not sure it will respond to remedies for thyroid disorders that are similar but with different causal mechanisms. Keep doing the research!

Having Hashi's and eating iodine rich foods do not mix!!! Avoid it like the plague and you'll feel much better!

Me too, I have Hashimoto's, and I listen to everything Dr. Kharrazian says ;-) I avoid iodine-supplemented foods like salt but do eat foods that naturally contain iodine (like fish).
