Back in April my family doctor finally ran an allergy panel for me. Well, I came up allergic to the 'Big 4' plus one, Wheat, dairy, corn, soy, and TOMATOES of all things! However, I suspect there may be some autoimmune issue going on here. What I would like help with is, what questions do I ask him, what further testing do I ask for if I suspect something more than food allergies? I've read a bit about gluten issues and have eliminated it from my diet. WOW! what a huge difference. However what I've read is that once you remove it, it becomes very tricky to get a true result on further gluten sensitivity testing. Now here is where I have to confess, this last holiday weekend, 4th of July, I fell off the wagon with half of a deep fried oreo and 1 bite of my daughter's homemade apple pie. I'm paying a mild price, but paying none the less...ANY helpful advice would be so very appreciated, I'm lost in the land of doctors and the medicine they push (which I steadfastly refuse)

I know that when you are away from gluten for a while you are less likely of having a blood test of celiac panel come back with a positive response. Do you feel you need more gluten sensitivity testing done? Would it change anything for you? Personally, after receiving a diagnosis of being intolerant to back up my already suspect mind, I decided that was enough as I didn't want to stress my body with gluten again, and my eating habits wouldn't change.
If you gave in to having some yummy gluten filled treats and your body is hurting, I think you have an answer to back up the prior allergy testing.
Are you looking for more specific feedback?
(And when I had my IGG testing done it came back with 30+ foods. Thankfully, I can eat many of them again, tomatoes included.)

Of course Erica what you have answered makes absolute sense! I guess what is really going on here is pressure from my husband to get some test(s) run that are (possibly) more specific. He wants me to stop having food issues and be able to eat like we have always eaten. Which is somewhat healthier than many, little to no packaged foods, etc...That said, he is getting kind of paranoid about my weight loss and is truly concerned that I may have something more serious going on than mere food allergies. So if I am to appease his concerns and see our family doctor again, what type of testing would I request? Thanks for your previous response and also for any helpful suggestions you may still have!

Do you feel your weight is unhealthy? How are you feeling within yourself? My husband hasn't given up everything I have but has cut out a lot of stuff of his own volition. That's not to say he doesn't go a little silly sometimes, when we are out somewhere, with the cakes. He occasionally will even admit that he feels a bit off cause he ate to many (nowhere near what he used to eat.)I even use a steamer with three levels and will cook slightly different vegies for us. He still has some bread and can't seem to do without his porridge for breakfast. It should be possible to keep your hubby happy with what he is eating. But it really comes down to if you feel you need further testing or if you are actually starting to feel better. I've read of a lot of people who have been able to introduce lots of things back in after a time of healing. You may like to look into "the whole 30". You might also get your husband to read Sarah's book

Hi Susan, I have actually been looking into the Whole30, wow they are hard core!! Dallas & Melissa are incredibly dedicated and so much more disciplined than I am at this point. I'm getting there though. With my cheating self, well, the effects are pretty immediate so breaking the eating/cheating habit is getting much easier. My weight is okay with me but my nutritional requirements are a big concern. Your comments about whether or not I feel like more testing is required make sense. The further I delve into Sarah's book it has become positively GOLDEN as a resource! She has definitely written for understanding to those of us new to all this and I feel like I've been in class each time I read a chapter, LOL! Thank you for your response, I have taken encouragement from your thoughts

Your welcome I just know the difference diet has made for me. My husband actively discourages me from eating some stuff
