I have a work dinner to go to and will be only 3 1/2 weeks into the Autoimmune Protocol. The dinner is at a Chinese restaurant and it does gluten free meals too. What should I be looking at to eat. I will have a chance to go in before the dinner to talk to chef before hand. Thanks to anyone who helps answer this question

Apart from gluten, do avoid glutamate (flavor enhancer), soy and funny sauces. Try to order fried meat with lots of stir-fried vegetables, preferably without any sauce.

What about oyster sauce?

I would avoid all sauces - most will contain soy, and a host of other chemicals and additives including MSG.
I looked up the ingredients in oyster sauce - water, sugar, salt, oyster extract, monosodium glutamate, modified corn starch, wheat flour, caramel coloiur... Definitely one to avoid.

We recently went to a birthday dinner for a grandson at an Asia place. I called in advance and spoke with a manager about my restrictions. They were very helpful and I had my choices made before even going in. From talking to the manager, I found that most of their meats have been marinated in soy sauce. That eliminated a lot! I recommend you call in advance.

I think I will go in at talk to the chef, but I might smuggle in some coconut aminos so that I have some flavour.

Well I had Gluten free honey chicken with real honey for the sauce and potato starch in the batter and rice with no soy sauce. I will have to wait and see how I feel in the morning.

How are you feeling? I think most Chinese food places have something like "healthy choices" section or whatever on the menu. Steamed veggies, plain rice, steamed shrimp, etc.

Janeway, I feel yucky sort of a hangover feeling! All bloated and last night I felt gross. But I went straight back to autoimmune eating this morning with lots of water and broth. I hope I get back to the way I have been feeling since changing to the autoimmune protocol really soon.
