Hello All, I was diagnosed with RA 12 mths ago, and started on my healing journey from there. I read Philip Day's books and started eliminating dairy (amongst other things) and adding supplements as he advised, whilst I continued to research. I needed more than this approach and found another programme in October which offered me a day to day diet (cleanse, heal etc) way to heal this disease. It is a vegan style programme and after the first 3 days I was able to stop my meds (Celebrex and Plaquinil). In December my blood tests were excellent, however I had also new developed a prolapse which was getting worse. After 5 months on the program my hands had not improved, and my prolapse seemed to be getting worse, making life more difficult, and I was getting a little depressed . I then decided to start the AIP diet which I have been following via the AutoImmune Protocol for the last 6 weeks, with no improvement in the function of my hands. However, my prolapse has been improving, I'm guessing from the increase in animal protein, which has also made a difference in my muscle tone which had deteriorated on the previous diet. My weight plummeted 12 kgs from 56kg to 42kg and I felt I was getting too thin to expect my body to heal properly, another reason to change my diet. I am making and drinking water Kefir and Kombucha tea. Wonderful drinks, however my bowel still needs some assistance at times. I need some help and guidance, my hands just don't seem to be improving as I would like. Thanks for any assistance or ideas anyone can give me, Gail

Hi Gail, Just wondering if you are or have looked into doing any supplementation? I have RA as well and am not currently on any conventional medications. I went to a naturopath recently and she put me on curcumin, fish oil ( I take fermented cod liver oil) and probiotics to help with inflammation- and they have helped. Do you have access to any natural practitioners? The other option may be talking to the functional medicine practitioner available through The Paleo Mom Consulting. Sometimes diet isn't enough- or fast enough!
