Who here works from home, online? What do you do? Is it sustainable? Or just supplemental to, say, a spouse's income? How long have you been working from home? Are there any good resources in the US (or you could post resources for other countries to help members outside of US) on finding legitimate online jobs? I make bad money at a job that exhausts me. I would like to be able to afford to move out of my parents house...I'm 25, plus it's a stressful environment. So I'm exploring as many options as I can. I really need to get away from my current job and work someplace that gives me a chance to better focus on healing. I've just recently begun applying to jobs...don't really know what I'm doing though, not much experience, an incomplete B.A. that I will probably never be able to finish, no car, and very inconsistent energy levels.
Just putting some feelers out there I guess.

My company has an at home technical advisor team. I don't work at home personally but I have some friends who do and seem to like it. And I think I can submit an HR referral to recommend you from anywhere within the company. PM or email me if that sounds like something you might like.

Rat Race Rebellion and Flex Jobs are good free resources.

I'm working as a freelance writer right now, but I'm looking for a full-time telecommute job with benefits. WAHM.com is also a good resource. ETA: NTI Central places Americans with disabilities in telecommute positions. I think you have to be receiving SSDI or SSI to qualify.

I'm self-employed and work from home. Do you have any skills that you could use on a freelance basis to start out?

I am self-employed but I do not work from home (no space to do massage therapy in our house as it is very open-plan, so I work out of a chiropractic clinic). My income is less than my hubbies but only because I am part-time - I only do 3 days a week. If I was full-time I would earn far more than him. I am just not physically capable of doing full-time massage as it is very hard on your body.
When we lived back in the UK, I was also self-employed for a while - I ran a WAHM cloth diaper business - custom made from my own pattern. The customer got to choose the fabric on the outside then I made them up as per their specifications in the size they wanted - just like a disposable but could go through the washer and dryer... That was only supplemental to hubby's income although I made a nice profit when I sold the business when we emigrated.
