Any words of wisdom on recovering from a stomach bug? I'm on day 3 now and would love any tips. Have been doing chicken bone broth (and have beef bones simmering away on the stove) with success. Have tried white rice and steamed apples but am not digesting anything so have backed away from that. I am drinking peppermint and ginger tea and resting but am still experiencing abdominal cramping, chills, and running to the toilet. Would really like to feel better soon!

I personally don't start eating solids until all crampiness and nausea are gone. I basically start eating again when I'm hungry. But since you haven't eaten for quite some time, I'd suggest to cook some starchy veggies (like carrots, parsnips, sweet potoes) until they're quite mushy (longer than you normally would) and either mash them or blend them into a soup with some broth. Or some chicken breast or other "dry" meat (you can blend that into a soup as well). Make sure to chew very well (even soup) because the enzymes in your saliva help with digestion. If you can't keep anything in soon make sure to see a doctor. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Fractal, did you ever find a good solution to eating after stomach flu? I had a 24 hour bug where I couldn't keep any food down. Now I'm afraid I won't be able to tolerate coconut milk and all the things I ate the day before. The next day I had a banana, and my husband brought home some broth with vegetables and chicken from a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. (Broth was good). I ended up having my husband get me rice pudding and ginger ale, which agreed with me. In the past I've had lemon yogurt with stomach problems. I know non-paleo food is supposed to have a bad effect on the gut, but nothing appeals to me. And I don't want to be cooking, could hardly get out of bed. So any ideas for something easy after stomach flu is appreciated!

Ooof, stomach bugs are the worst. I think broth is the most helpful food - with really soft veggies like carrot or sweet potato if you can tolerate it. If you don't have broth on hand, maybe you could stir gelatin into hot tea? Good luck and get well soon.
