So I started back on paleo today. Trying to cut out the autoimmune foods. As of now, I have had a chorizo sausage with onions and mushrooms for breakfast. And a chai latte with hemp milk (my one vice). I'm realizing that chai ingredients are prob not AI friendly. For lunch I had 3 very small beets marinated in balsamic, a slice if turkey lunch meat (wasn't appetizing enough to want more for some reason), an avocado and a banana. Great job making the effort to get back on the wagon Just a point...which you won't want to hear...chorizo has paprika in it, so it's not AIP, either Check out the list of nightshades and spices that aren't AIP-approved. Maybe print out or write a list to put in front of you so you can easily check it when you're going to eat something. And when you find yourself making a mistake at the beginning (before long, you'll be a pro!), admit that it happened, then let it go. Then think of what you could have substituted-and find recipes and ingredients that are "safe" for the future. It takes time to figure all these things out. If it would work better for you, start with just one category to eliminate and don't kick anything else out until you've mastered that one. I would start with nightshades. Soon enough, you'll find replacements for all the foods you used to eat (some better than before!) and once you're comfortable, move on to something else (eggs, nuts, seeds/spices). PS A lot of people use coconut oil in their tea...just a thought for when you get around to eliminating seeds (hemp is a seed). Good luck! We've all been through the same things, so hang in there-it gets easier!

OMG! Duh! Man. I was not thinking about this!!! It's hard because my hubby and I LOVE spice! But I think spice bothers me. Ok. I will be finding something else. I can't believe I totally didn't even think about the chorizo! Lol I figured the hemp was a nono too. Ah! This is hard! I remember when we started paleo how hard it was and having to question everything I was going to eat. Thank you so much EJ5! Lol funny the things that totally slip your mind.

I am very new to this. about 4 weeks into this way to eat! My question: Is it normal to have an upset stomach & if so, how long does this last?

The coconut oil is a good replacement in your coffee. I loved my coffee creamers and switched to this with coconut or almond milk and adapting just fine. The nightshades are going to be tricky for me. I am also new to this also, about 2 months in and just ate terrible this week-end for the holidays and feel rotten. Just confirmed that I was eating right and healing my body, now this will motivate me more to make better choices. Keep pressing on, the reward will be worth it!
