Hello, fellow Texans!
I'm in North Texas (Irving, former home of the Dallas Cowboys) and am wondering if you know of any health care providers any where in the DFW area that are especially versed in the world of autoimmune disease and a Paleo diet/lifestyle. I'm currently without a GP of any kind and would like to have my thyroid and hormone levels checked again (had them checked last year in a string of frustrating and ridiculous visits to a GP, an OBGYN, and an endocrinologist). (I have two children with Celiac disease and I have the genetic markers for Celiac disease and a family history of autoimmune and related diseases among my parents and siblings.) I realize Texas is a big state and you might not be any where near me, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks in advance, Eva

Thanks in advance, Eva Hi Eva, I'm not in Texas but I don't know if you had searched www.PaleoPhysiciansNetwork.com , www.PrimalDocs.com and/or The Institute for Functional Medicine to find a Paleo-friendly medical professional in your area?

I've briefly checked the primal docs site but I will look into it and the other sites further. Thanks!

Eva6in7, Hi. I am from the new home of the Dallas Cowboy. ;-) I see a D.O. in Arlington. I like her but she is not AIP or Paleo friendly. She does give me my Armour Thyroid Rx and is kind and not the type to push meds. For all my AI issues I actually "see" a doctor that was located in Dallas off 635 but has since, moved to NC. Our appointments are over the phone now. Sorry I'm not a lot of help. Someday soon there will be more Alternative Medicine doctors available. For now do try the links provided above by TamarE.

I do want to say that my Dr in NC "sees" patients from all over the world. I just happened to first go to him when he was still in Dallas, then he moved. All our phone appointments are great. I email him any questions a day or two prior. When he calls, no time is wasted. I feel like he really listens to me, more so than any dr I have ever seen face-to-face. If I have a problem or question between appointments, I just email and he responds within 24 hours. If you were interested, I would totally give you his info. He is a Functional Neurologist, Functional Endocrinologist, Chiropractic Neurologist, Vestibular Rehab Specialist. He even has a page on FB. Let me know!

Hi Eva, I live in Flower Mound and see Dr. Gonino (469-402-2800...office located in Heath). He does IV therapy and all kinds of things and can check your levels. I haven't actually talked to him about Paleo yet, but he was quite familiar with Candida and leaky gut. It might be worth it to give the office a call.

Hello, I live in Richland Hills and see a doctor in Hurst. Thats only about 30 minutes from Irving. She is a functional medicine doctor, Dr. Mary Ann Block. Google, The Block Center. She tests for allergies, treats autism, does hormonal and endocrine care. She's the doctor who diagnosed my MTHFR defect and since I've started treatment for that, my health has really improved When we've talked about diet, she has always said if you cant pick it, fish for it or kill it with a stick, don't eat it! I dont think she uses the term Paleo, but that's how she recommended we eat. She is really wonderful!

I am brand new here but so glad to see this post. I am hypothyroid and have not yet been able to find any doctor that will take anything that I saw seriously. I still don't feel that my levels are optimal but they will not change my medication but just give me a prescription for antidepressants.
Thanks!!
