Hi-I am Tricia - I have been meaning to do something, anything to record my experiences and how I have arrived at this portal, at this moment in time..so as they say "start where you are"...so rather than go back and retrace, I'll just start where I am and fill in the rest later ...At this moment, I am 3 weeks post partum with my baby boy, I also have a wonderful daughter who is seven and a fabulous hubby; as well as 2 labs, a cat and a fish. Back to the baby, I had a scheduled c-section and am pretty sleep deprived...I have been paleo for 2 years (or thereabouts). I would say an undercurrent of my life has always been "desperately seeking digestive health", to say the least and I'll cover that later....but for this moment, I am really working hard to find a balance and ease with which to continue my Paleo Lifestyle....as a new mom of newborn who is breastfeeding, I am finding that I do not have the same amount of time to make my kitchen creations, and while it won't be forever, I still have this desire to take really really good care of myself and my family. I am committed and it is my intention to find the flow with being a mom and life this lifestyle...as my baby grows, my intention is to continue with Paleo with him and eventually transition my whole family to Paleo. Hubby is open, my seven year old...not so much...so all together we go, one baby step at a time...since I have been AI Paleo, I have reintro'd minimal to my diet, but thankfully does include white rice, nuts, minimal hummus and tomatoes...nothing else yet, unless you consider that I will use products containing soy lecithin and xanthum gum...this was based on reading Chris Kresser's blog and the fact that the impact on digestion is minimal and so far, so good, it has not had any negative impacts on me yet. I had my starchy carb load pretty low(50-75) at the beginning of my pregnancy, but again after further research have increased my carb intake to about 100 - 150 grams per day, I have to say this adjustment has made me a happier person, perhaps it is because I need more calories due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it has really impacted my emotions as well. So, my diet now looks like 1/3 cup rice with chicken bone broth soup for breakfast, a snack (apple with nutbutter), protein with veggies for lunch, snack (veggies with hummus or something else) and dinner (protein with veggies) and a dessert. I may eat snacks in between and that is something I would love to figure out...how to eat enough to go from meal to meal without blood sugar spikes and without snacking. I am so happy to be part of this community and look forward to sharing and learning from those on this board!
