Which flavor of Green Pastures fermented cod liver oil should I buy? Or does it not matter because they're all gross? Also, how much and how often should I take it?

They all taste exactly like you'd expect fermented cod liver oil to taste. The cinnamon is probably the best at masking the flavor (though it's still pretty strong), but it's also sorta burn-y. I switched to orange recently and actually like it a lot more.
In theory, I take a tsp per day. In real life, I take it sometimes. When I remember and feel courageous.

I use unflavored, because it was the only one in the store at the time when I bought it. I add a little juice to it in a shot glass, and shoot it. I really don't think it's that bad, but I do try to remember to take it before I eat.

For what it's worth, the vitamin content in FCLO pales in comparison to liver, ghee, sardines, cold water fatty fish or egg yolk (reintro food). It's just so expensive and unless you're eating none of the above foods, it seems unnecessary. I know some people that swear by it, and that's totally cool, but from data released by Green Pastures, the vitamin content is both low compared to food sources and varies quite a bit by batch. www.greenpasture.org/public/Products/TestData/index.cfm

Personally, I didn't see or feel any health benefits between the Green Pastures FCLO caps and taking Nordic Naturals Cod liver oil caps.

Interesting, saragrambusch! Normally I do prefer to eat whole foods...but FCLO was recommended by my doctor for my skin issues. I've been eating liver occasionally and haven't seen any results. I don't love it, honestly, so for me it's a choice between two "gross" things I'll have to rethink my commitment to liver before I buy any FCLO. It would certainly be cheaper...

US Wellness liverwurst tastes like delicious sausage (but that's not cheap either) and I blend up liver and mix it in meatloaf which I can't taste at all. I can't just fry up some liver and eat it either.

For what it's worth, I eat liver 3-4 times a week and still see benefit from FCLO. The fermentation changes the structure of the proteins to make nutrients more bioavailable (and adds some beneficial by products), so it doesn't have to be a one-or-the-other choice. But it certainly can be if you prefer only eating one.

I would much rather (and am) eat sardines and liver frequently than consume that *very expensive* stuff.

useful to note that if you are going to take it, the orange & unflavoured are the only ones without stevia. according to the paleo mom, stevia is best avoided because it can disrupt hormones.

is anyone with hashimoto's taking FCLO? If so, have you experienced any inflammation due to the high iodine content? Thank you in advance!

Definitely cinnamon. Even my 2 year old can take it with no issues. There's still a fishy smell but it is not a terrible flavor.
