Hi everyone!
Not sure if this is the correct board in which to post this, but I hope it's ok. :-)
Those of you who feel you are healing well or are even in remission, how many flares did you experience along the way? I've been eating according to AIP for about seven weeks and have felt a lot better but am now experiencing a flare. It makes me a bit paranoid that I've become sensitive to something I'm eating, but I know it could be a number of other reasons too. I just wonder how common setbacks are.

I am having a flare now, the first since starting AIP 5 months ago. I also wonder if it is a result of something I ate because I did give some cheese a try and that's when I started feeling symptoms. So, now I am heading back to square one of AIP to at least make this flare less severe and hopefully shorter.

I think everyone is different, depends on diet, lifestyle, and your health issues. I eat mostly AIP but had a Chrone's flare in February/March. but I don't get enough sleep. I chew gum. Is that why I flared? Hard to say. Autoimmune issues come and go and it's hard to know when they will flare. All we can do is try our best to take of every aspect of our health (including food, sleep, lifestyle).

Yeah, I know, it could be anything. It would just be so good to hear that someone who've managed to heal substantially also experienced flares - so the rest of us can allow ourselves to stay hopeful and not despair at every setback! :-)

It seems I have a flare once a month! I have yet to go more than a few months without some sort of flare. I have lichen planus - and it's much worse than just the skin issues....

Sugar causes me to flare. Even natural sugars like honey if I have too much.

I've known that for years and have been eating a low carb diet for a long time because of it. I haven't figured out what caused it this time, but I hope that I will be able to heal despite the flares.
