I'll start. Currently getting over Crohn's flare. Just recently added small amounts of "safe" veggies (cooked squash and carrots) to my broth/protein blend in the Vitamix soups. I'm on Humira and Lialda indefinitely. I started on 50 mg prednisone last month after my colonoscopy. I've slowly tapered down to 25 mg and will continue to taper each week. My struggle is SUGAR. I chew gum most every day, I eat my kid's gummy vitamins like candy, and I probably still eat too much fruit. My other struggle is sleep. Because of the prednisone, I am up late. I usually get six hours of sleep per night.

It's 10:24 pm and I could totally eat right now. But I know it's better to not eat for several hours before bed... I won't eat. But I want to eat.

Thanks for sharing your story! I hope you get to taper off your medicine soon. I totally understand wanting to eat but choosing not to. The paleo foods have helped keep me satiated for the most part. I had been craving pizza the last few weeks and I broke down over the weekend and had two big slices. Upside, my usual lactose intolerance did not kick in! The next day was lots of bathroom stops but in the past it would only take 20-45min and I'd be running for the bathroom! Thanks for all you do for the.community!

Regarding the pizza: I guess delayed diarrhea is better than instant diarrhea? I felt ill after dinner tonight (which was bone broth, chicken, and 1/4 cup peeled zucchini blended in the Vitamix). I did not even finish my cup-o-broth. Went to the bathroom and felt a little better. Our bodies are so interesting.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in and out Paleo feel so much better with Paleo. I do not have any diagnosis like Autoimmune disease. I started Paleo because I want to lose some Wheight but noticed how good I feel doing Paleo. If I eat grains my body is ache. I want to become attached more to a Paleo lifestyle. Don't know how.

Had a phone consult with Mickey Trescott (Autoimmune Paleo) last night. She went over the results of my Metametrix stool test with me. I have mild candida. Can you believe she advised me to eat less candy, chew less gum, and eat less fruit?!? We shall see...

Well, instead of buying a whole pack of gum at the grocery store I purchased three gumballs from the candy machine. That's progress, right? The kids have swimming lessons every Friday afternoon. I always get them a tootsie pop after class. And yes, I buy myself one also. Yesterday I bought five for some reason. So that's two for me, and one for each of them. And then I purchased Glee gum at WF. After all that I had quite a headache. Oh sugar you are so powerful!!

Hello Tamar you answered my email after Paleo Approach was 2 weeks out with a great tip. It was very encouraging being on the other side of the world to receive it. There was no-one in my neighborhood (and very little on the Dutch internet-community) knowing about, let alone doing, AIP. Your personal answer meant a great deal to me! Thank you! You'll get over the sugar because you are sweet enough yourself! best wishes, good health! Monique

This is an empty bottle of prednisone. I started at 50 mg on 03/14 and took my last 1/2 pill today. Yay! I do plan on writing a blog post about this whole experience (flare, stool sample, colonoscopy, 2 week break from veggies, now low FODMAP, bone broth for the first time, blending all food in the Vitamix, etc, etc.). But when I told Sarah my idea for the title was "Diarrhea, what's up with that?" she was not amused. ;)I'll have to think of a better title before it gets published.

Tamar, you answered a question I had about my psoriasis and the fact that I also use Humira for it. I have read where some people are lucky enough to stop using any meds for psoriasis and can control the psoriasis with diet but I am not sure if that will work for me. I can relate to your "sugar" craving as that has been my problem since I was very young. I use to be a gum "addict" when I worked but, since I retired, I am able to control it much better and only have maybe 1 or 2 pieces in a day. Also, I don't do well with soy but I can't seem to give up my dark chocolate after dinner every night, which contains soy. Hang in there, you are not alone!

I'm glad you've been able to figure out what amount works for you. I (generally) have been better about not buying actual packs of gum and instead buying gumballs. My kids love it when we buy gum, that's for sure! Or Tootsie Pops... I do believe you can find dark chocolate that does not contain soy. Maybe at Whole Foods or a specialty store?
