I seem to be doing terribly with water kefir...I never change the water....I think I am reacting to it so haven't been drinking much. Anyway, I think it's been sitting out fermenting for a least a week. Do you think it's dead or can still be saved?

It can probably be saved, but you might find that it has gone slimy or very acidic. I would strain out the grains, give them a rinse in some filtered water and put them in some fresh sugar water and see how they do. Taste the liquid they were in and see if it is slimy or nasty taking (if it is throw it). I find I can leave my grains for 2-3 days with no issues, but my house is on the colder side of average.

I read awhile ago on-line, that if you need to take a break from making water kefir, you can put the grains in sugar water in the refrigerator for awhile (I think several weeks). That's where my are right now. I think they are doing fine, although I should give them some fresh sugar water again.
