Does anyone have ideas for fun/play activities that don't involve physical activity? Sometimes people just aren't in a place where doing active things are "fun." But that doesn't mean they don't need distraction and fun! What kinds of things do you like to do (either in or out of your house) for fun?

I have some friends with a great sense of humor. We don't have the option to see each other frequently, but do interact on Facebook a lot. Just joking around, sending funny pics and clips, commenting on our bloopers and such. We get to laugh a lot this way.

Sometimes I feel like it's been ages since I last had a good laugh. When this happens, I pick up one of the Anguished English books by Richard Lederer. The books are full of bloopers and other "accidental assaults upon our language". There are at least 3 inexpensive little paperbacks in this series which you could probably pick up used.

I love to go camping, but I have to admit that camping since I started my own family is no longer a "break" for me. I usually come back just as tired and wanting another break. But it is still nice to sit by a campfire with my husband and just be. Or play cards by the lantern light and shoo away the countless number of moths Another thing I enjoy, always have, is playing games. I'll always joke that I am a nerd by association, but really, I am a gamer at heart. Before kids, I played MMORPGs {Everquest, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft - just smile and nod if you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about lol!}. I don't currently, because I have other priorities {like mothering and sleep!}. Sometimes my husband and I will sit down and play a game on the Nintendo {original NES} or Wii after the kids are in bed though. I also love to read. I have a stack of Terry Brooks books waiting for me to read. It is just a matter of carving out the time for it.

My husband and I love board game nights, either just the two of us (Scrabble!) or with friends. We also sometimes host movie nights (mostly so I can make the snacks, easier than navigating food at someone else's house) that feature the worst possible movies we can find. Lots of laughter all around.

I love silly podcasts. Adam Carolla makes me LOL (literally) every day.
