Hi everyone! I'm a 69 year old Registered Nurse who for years has worked to improve everyone else's health but not necessarily mine. Needing to lose 100 pounds (I was wearing a plus size 24W), I got serious with myself a few years ago and started cutting back on the amount I ate. I lost some weight in that first year and then got VERY serious and started counting fat grams and calories. Over the two years, I lost 50 pounds and then struggled for 7 months to keep from gaining it back! It was very hard and discouraging during that time but I was determined not to gain my weight back that I had worked so hard to lose!
Recently, searching for something to break the "plateau", I researched the Paleo diet and it made a lot of sense to me so I've been following it for several weeks. My weight has finally budged and I've lost 5 more pounds... for a total lost of 55!!! I realize following the Paleo diet isn't necessarily about losing weight but improving my body's nutritional status, so I'm content to allow my body to shed the extra weight on its own timetable, be it one, two, three or more years. I really feel I'm on the right path now and I welcome the support of others here.
