Disclaimer Again, I class myself as a newbie lol
As I understand, the whole Paleo put in a nutshell is to eat foods that are going to run our body in a Metabolic Ketone adaptive state so we can burn Fat as a primary fuel source instead of Carbs (Dr Doug McGuff) ..... God I hope I got it right lol
I have a few problems that I just can't nail to tie everything up that I have learnt about.
Q1. How much Glucose (Carbs) needs to be consumed to keep up in Ketosis??
So if Paleo is to run your body in a ketogenic state. Sugar is sugar. Hit your gut & converts to glucose & fructose. Fructose bypasses insulin receptors & goes straight to Liver "Bad" & too much glucose will change our body out of being a fat burner back into a sugar burner. So this leads me to another question that I can't get my head around
Q2. If we are trying to stay in a Ketosis state then why are there so many recipes that use Honey & Maple syrup?
I was of the understanding that we should be trying to reduce our Fructose consumption (Dr Doug McGuff) & even if organic fed bees make Honey, its still Glucose & Fructose no matter how pretty you make the package? My other research has led me to other things like Rice maple syrup (David Gillespie, Sweet Poison) that has Zero Fructose & only glucose. Doesn't that seem to be a better choice?
My resources have been, Dr Doug McGuff, Mark Sisson, Nora Gedgaudas, Rob Wolf, Chris Kresser, David Gellspie
The most amazing Video that has taught me the most & has explained things in an easy manner has been
www.the21convention.com/2011/03/05/doug-mcguff-t21c-2010/ Bio Chemestry 101.

Please fast fwd to 1:02:40 where it start the Bio 101 lesson.
He has also stated that you can be a fat burner & not produce ketones that will cause you bad breath & urine smells! HOW exactly?? I don't know
Cheers
