Anyone have experience with kids having their adenoids removed? We may have to do this for my four year old.
We did the scan at the ENT where the doctor looked at her adenoids and sinuses with a camera, and he said they were extremely large. She gets a runny nose and a cough often. She was on three different antibiotics this summer due to these issues. The ENT told me it's a minor procedure. Would love to hear someone's first hand experience with this, thanks!

I don't have any experience or advice to offer, but I hope the procedure goes smoothly and she has a speedy recovery!!

Tamar, I had my adenoids removed with my 2nd set of tubes, at age 10 (30 years ago). The only "problem" I have with them is that I never drank enough carbonated beverages to desensitize the scar tissue, so it still feels funny in the back of my throat when I drink a carbonated beverage now. I can't find anything wrong with that -- that's what made me reluctant to ever drink soda in the first place!

At this time we are continuing with steroid nasal spray once a day. So far, so good. But I know we may have to have the procedure in the future. I've read many posts on a local mommy board, moms saying their kids did well with the procedure and experienced an improvement in sinus-related issues.

Ah, interesting! Mine were removed due to not-so-interesting ear/drainage issues, but I have *never* had a sinus infection in my whole life. Maybe the adenoids being out is part of the reason?! More anecdotal evidence, at best. Margretta
