Living with pain and heart disease is not easy but attempting to change your lifestyle habits I think is harder. After all without change you have no trials and tests of will. I am in my first month of switching to the AIP protocol and hoping to be fully AIP by The end of next month. Thus far I have eliminated Diet Coke from my life and boy that was excruciatingly painful - headaches ruled my life worse than migraines ever did. I am now free of the nasty stuff and celebrate this accomplishment. I am also a couple weeks into eliminating pasta, potatoes and rice from my diet and I don't miss them. I am struggling with a sweet tooth tho and I end up eating processed foods including grains usually after supper. I am working on this and trying to find ways to control my urges for sweets which is difficult since I love dark chocolate. One of the other reasons to make changes is last month I hit my highest weight ever of 254lbs and that scared me when I topped the scales above 250. Since making these little changes above I have managed to slowly get down to 244 and it was not due to water weight loss it truly was a slow dropping off of pounds which made me happy. I look forward to more weight loss as well as improved health so here goes my journey, traveling through becoming a healthier me.

Day 2 of becoming 100% in compliance with the AIP protocol and I am STARVING right now despite having had a bowl of fruit for breakfast at 730, leftover lamb, mushrooms, kohlrabi greens, and sweet potato for lunch at 1145, followed by a 1 o'clock repeat of greens and mushrooms, and a peach at 230. .... It's going to be a long day

You need to be eating protein and fat at every meal. Fruit isn't enough it's all carbs. Also remember that breakfast can be anything. I think of it as meal 1, 2 and 3. Leftovers for breakfast is easy, just cook a little extra at dinner or cook a big frittata and have fruit as a side.

Leftovers for breakfast is easy, just cook a little extra at dinner or cook a big frittata and have fruit as a side. Thank you for the advice. I did make that adjustment this morning but I ended up not eating totally clean last night.. I broke down while out at dinner with my family and ate a Chinese dumpling. .... And then today at lunch I had pita chips. Headache and bloating today was enough to make me think that even the little bit of bad eating was enough to propel me into being a clean eater. I need to remember this when I reach for another off AIP protocol. I figure I am doing fairly well so far and my totally compliant date is July 1. So I hope to make it with out any additional hurdles. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What a wonderful thing! Lost 12 lbs in a month and still going strong with occasional slip ups in compliance. It seems stress/emotions are what is triggering my carb cravings. So I am working on that ! I am feeling much better and have even stopped all medications and am prepping for a micronutrient lab test to be done. All is well and my advice is if you make a slip up forgive yourself! Slipping up is not the end of being healthy, it is the beginning of being able to restore yourself with each new step

Cravings cravings cravings. I am struggling at night mainly because my husband sits on the couch eating junk every night :/. But I have been good actually 100% AIP compliant and I feel good! Down a few more pounds, bowels behaving, and feeling very full eating three meals a day. I usually get a carb craving in the afternoon so that is where I add my fruit in and husband far it has been working. I am building up a recipe file on Pintrest ns using Mickey Trescott's Autoimmune cookbook and have been successful in getting my 78 year old Mom to tag along. She even thought that M. Trescott's fried rice recipe was made with rice and was shocked when I said no it's cauliflower. Lol. She doesn't understand the need to cal cauliflower rice tho. But all is good and I have been encouraging others to jump on the band wago., after all there is nothing to lose but soo much to gain if it works for you.

I totally agree with you. I've never eaten healthier in my whole life. I feel like it is truly becoming a lifestyle for me and I love that. I hope you are continuing to do well!!!

wauw cottagehand, getting your mom to join you and your son too.........admiration......my parents (mom 78 dad 87) are also taking small bits of aip into their diet. Even these small contributions have a good effect! But eating cauliflower rice.......it is a miracle! Keep up, one day you'll look back, when healthier, and think " did I really eat all that stuff, once??" Really! best wishes to you and your family Monique
