I have very dry skin especially on my face. I also have rosacea and a lot of moisturizing products irritate my skin. Nothing that my dermatologist has suggested has worked. I drink tons of water so I don't think i'm dehydrated. Anyone have any thoughts on products or a regimen? Thanks Michelle

I recently found the brand hugo naturals it is gluten free and it is an all over moisturizer I previously was using a loreal face moisturiser and my skin was dry and spotty plus I have thyroid issues so it's always dry this is my first try at a gluten free moisturiser and other can see a big difference my skin.

My doctor recommended taking Fermented Cod Liver Oil to help with skin issues. She also recommended using tallow balm-people with sensitive skin can react more strongly to plant-based moisturizers than to animal-based ones. Another thing to try might be adding gelatin to your diet. Here's a recipe for Skin Care Gummies. It's definitely a struggle to find the best combination of things to treat sensitive skin. Have you read The Skintervention Guide? It might give you ideas. I believe it also focuses on the fact that if your digestive system isn't working properly your skin won't behave either. But first things first-make sure your products don't have gluten or parabens in them. Check things out on the Skin Deep database.

I also have dry skin on my face - especially in the cheek area near my nose. I have gotten great results with oil cleansing

Thanks for all the suggestions! I ordered some gelatin from amazon and will start adding that when it comes. I have been debating the FCLO for weeks, mostly because of the cost, I think I will just have to bite the bullet and try it! Erin, what is oil cleansing? Michelle

I don't use coconut oil on my face anymore as it made me break out and clogged my pores... that's actually what brought me to oil cleansing in the first place But I use a blend of organic castor and avocado oils for oil cleansing.

I have severe rosacea and psoriasis on my face and have tried many things over the last 2 decades.
Face soap: Dove, Aubrey with seabuckthorn, or Dr. Bronner's with peppermint oil (some find this last one too harsh but it works for me) moisturizer: Coconut oil. the oil is antimicrobial as well as moisturizing without clogging the pores (at least it doesn't clog mine). Supplements: zinc (at least 50mg per day), vitamin D, vitamin C (I've just been learning about making vit. C serum for topical application but haven't tried it yet but I take megadoses of C orally) and magnesium (I do NOT apply it topically to the face! topically elsewhere or orally but not on the face!).

There are so many great oils to put on after you wash your face. Seabuckthorn, rosehip seed, baobab, tamanu. I use a brand on iherb called Life Flo. I use jojoba oil for oil cleansing as my face doesn't love coconut oil either.

I have similar issues. Recently, everything was flaring, red, bumpy but also dry and flaking. So, when my skin gets so bad, I start with diet: I double down to strict AIP to resolve the inflammation. Then, I cut out all sugars because I read that Candida overgrowth can contribute to that dry flaky skin layer. Three weeks later, I am back to a more normal routine: washing with Tom's of Maine for sensitive skin. I rotate moisturizers like Alba Botanica basic body lotion blended with hyaluronic acid or Cecilia Wong Skin care.
