I have an eczema question: I have had eczema on the palms of my hands, and under my wedding ring for years. When I don't keep them dry (which is impossible for me since I bartend 30 hours a week, in addition to Mommy duties the other however many hours a week), it flares up. I also have what I believe is dishydrotic eczema on the side and sole of my foot. This may have to do with moisture sometimes, but I usually try to wear no socks and shoes--the beauty of living in Arizona . This one is UNBEARABLY itchy, and starts with little blisters. If I can resist the scratching, it isn't too bad, but I usually can't! And I'm not even a bite-scratcher, or picker of anything usually! When they get scratched open, the blisters ooze amber colored stuff, and then the skin gets kind of hard after it heals (meanwhile it is painful from scratching it to death). Sorry if that was TMI!
I've been pretty strict Paleo for only four months, and I haven't noticed any change in this. I do have tiny tastes of my daughter's food (aa little cheese and yogurt, and very few grains) from time to time, but don't eat mouths full of her food or anything. I've read that reactions with shampoos/soaps/lotions may trigger this, but who knows. I only use paraben free, sulfate free, etc lotions and soaps.
Anyone else know of a sure fire way to avoid these outbreaks? The dry eczema on my hands isn't fun, but it's not nearly as awful as the dishydrotic on my foot.
I have had obvious improvements in digestion since changing my diet, but it hasn't been as obvious with the skin problems.
