I will be seeing a functional nutritionist soon and was wondering what tests to ask for. I will be asking for tests on deficiencies and toxicities, what other things would you recommend getting tested for? Thanks!

Depending on the needs of the client, I usually suggest different tests to my clients like Vitamin D levels. Occasionally, I use Spectracell micronutrient testing for deficiencies.

I really prefer to run the Comprehensive Organic Acids test by Metametrix for my clients. This test measures nutrient deficiencies, enzyme deficiencies, toxicity, dysbiosis, detoxification demands, and neurotransmitter activity. The test helps get at the root cause of a variety of symptoms and pathologies.

They should be able to test for food sensitivities that bother a person 4-5 DAYS after you eat them. Worth knowing!
