What are some ideas of places to "explore" around town or downtown (depending where you live) that don't involve food? My husband and I love to travel, but that always involved trying the local food and beverages-none of which I can enjoy while on AIP. I still want to explore new places, especially since we recently moved (so there's a lot to see!), but what should we do?

Sometimes it's fun to be a tourist where you live Visit local shops, attractions, etc. We've done the Underground tour of Seattle, visited Pike Place Market, Space Needle, state fair, etc. We frequently browse antique stores, visit local art galleries, and we have annual zoo passes {a must with the kids}. On the weekends once it opens, we stop at our local farmers market and not just for the food! I love seeing local artists' work, crafts, jewelry, soaps, there is even a guy who is a succulent plant master mind. I enjoy visiting his booth. We're fortunate enough to have lots going on around us - city life, forest, islands, mountains, and the beach. All just a short drive {or walk} away.

I had exactly the same issue when I went AIP. Whenever we visited a different town or country even, we always used to make the local food a big thing. Now, when we visit somewhere new I make something else the fun - a walk along the beach/visit local monuments/window shop - I pack a little something to nibble on and take it with me. It's amazing when I look back at how many days out used to revolve mostly around the food - now we make different memories about the places we visit

Geocaching! Not just in town out in the countryside as well. www.geocaching.com/ All you need is a GPS unit (or a cellphone with GPS capability) and you can have a bunch of fun and explore at the same time
