I know canned fish is out for Histamine but a friend gave me a gift of a tin of really good caviar the other day and I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be ok? I really don't want to waste it! Thanks!

I don't know much about histamine intolerance, but this website I found (http://caviar.bc.ca/Caviar%20Nutrition) specifically lists histamine as one of the proteins found in caviar. If it were me, I'd save the caviar (presuming it's not going to go bad soon). Histamine intolerance, like FODMAP sensitivity, is usually a sign that something else is wrong, and once you treat the root cause people can usually reintroduce those foods within a few months (depending on the severity of the problem).

All fish stuff naturally has a higher histamine content because it's so perishable, but much more so if it's smoked or preserved. I wouldn't think the histamine should be that off the charts in caviar, but maybe save it for a reintroduction like Kathy suggests. I really should try caviar. I bet it's awesome for you.

Do you have histamine intolerance? I just started reading about it and think it may be part of my problem. Any input you could give on dealing with histamine would be greatly appreciated!
