Tonight my 15 yr old asked if she could bring her friend R over for dinner and to do some studying.. I said yes with some reservations thinking that there was no WAY R would eat what I was planning for dinner (sole fillets poached with garlic and ginger, served with broccoli, rutabaga fries and salad).... she not only cleared her plate, she asked if here were any seconds!!!! And then said that she needed to take cookery lessons with me! shows that some kids no matter what like good food...

Awesome! Getting a thumb's up from other kids is definitely nice. I have a bevy of nephews and nieces {16!} ranging from 18 months to 18 years. The four teens that live in state will sometimes stay with us for the weekend and they always help in the kitchen. Last weekend, my eldest nephew stayed with us and he made us dinner one night - an AIP Mongolian beef and it was absolutely delicious! When he leaves he has a list of things he wants to learn to make the "next time" he visits.

We have seen a few things like this in out home. Mike's kids are here every other weekend and one night during the week. I refuse to be a short-order cook, even for them. His oldest son has made a bold statement that he is vegan. This was looooong before we moved our diet in a different direction. I do t cook to him, but he has lots of options and I buy certain things for him that NO ONE in our family will eat ie: Boca burgers, which are processed junk. He has to make those things himself. Now he is flipped out about no bread in the house because he can't make peanut butter toast or PBJ sandwiches. I just shrug it off, but Mike did buy him a loaf of bread this weekend.
The interesting thing is that his younger son could have easily made a sandwich today for lunch, but he followed suit of my kids and made a lettuce, meat and cheese roll-up! He is still frowning a lot of homemade breakfast sausage and just about any vegetable, but we are making progress!

My daughter went away to college in September. After eating paleo for almost two years, her diet took a 180. She's been feeling nauseous since, well, since about September, and wondered if diet had anything to do with it. She started avoiding wheat and other grains as much as she can (eats in the dining hall, lives in a dorm), and is feeling better. She makes her own muffins in the dorm kitchen, since breakfast is the most difficult meal to avoid wheat. Thankfully she's feeling better.
