elleneliza are you located in Wisconsin? Whereabouts? I'm in Waupaca.
Thanks for the meat tips. I've been getting grass finished meats in Stevens Point at the Strongs Avenue Market. They carry all local foods or at least local to Wisconsin. I can get some Uncured Natural Meats products at The Nutrition Center in Waupaca.....but the mix you listed above sounds awesome. I'll ask them if they can bring it in.

I just moved up here from Hartland in Waukesha County last fall. (I miss Milwaukee's winter market.) Do you shop at Outpost??? I'm a member and also at Good Harvest Market in Waukesha. But not so convenient shopping there any more! So happy to discover someone from Wisconsin doing AIP. Yippee! We might need to get together for an AIP feast sometime. I bet there will be more when everyone gets over to this site. I'm treating Hashimoto's.

I do go to Outpost! That's where I'm getting my Uncured Natural Meats products. Yeah, I'm glad you're here! I've been wondering where everyone from Wisconsin is. I've actually been surprised at how small the paleo community is here in Milwaukee (or maybe I haven't found it...) I'd love to get together some time- perhaps when the weather finally starts behaving?
Do you ever go to Appleton? The Free Market there has some really great stuff.

Hopefully the weather will start behaving soon. It's been a sorry spring even for Wisconsin.
I found out about the Free Market this winter (and didn't want to drive that far then.) I knit on Wednesdays at the Waupaca Community Arts Center....we sit around a big old table and talk smart and laugh while we work on our crafty projects. There's an older woman who crochets..I think she's in her early 80's who was telling me she bakes gluten free stuff at the Free Market 2 days a week! I was shocked, but then she said her daughter and son-in-law own the place and they drive her there and back. Small world....but I do want to check it out soon. I think there is a fairly large Paleo community in Stevens Point as they had a whole 30 conference or something like that last month. But it was held at a fitness club and the emphasis seemed to be on the athletic types. Seemed like they had a big crowd. But I'm more interested in connecting with AIP paleos. Well lets see if some more Wisconsinites find there way over here. Most people still seem to be doing all their posting on Facebook.

I'm a knitter, too! Though I can't seem to carry it through the summer...more of a winter hobby. Next time I'm at the Free Market, I'll look for GF baked goods and let you know if I see them might be a nice thing to report back to your friend. My partner's daughter is GF, so I could pick one up for her!

Right now I'm just doing dishcloths......I can't keep track of anything more complicated and talk too!
Yes, do look for them.....I think she said she makes the quick breads. Hopefully I'll get over that way myself in the near future.

I'm another AIPer in Milwaukee! (and actually low FODMAP for the moment too, yeesh.) But I'm glad to see you guys talking about the outpost, haha! I'm sorry, I am still doing most of my talking on the fb page, it's just too convenient! And I actually was wondering what the paleo community here was like, I've been so busy since I moved here (in August, from PA) that I haven't really been able to reach out and find anyone! I'm glad I decided to stop by, let me know if you do meet up!

Welcome Ihaufler! Glad to meet another Wisconsinite. Hope you're enjoying it here and getting out to see the area. I spend way more time on Facebook too, but like to check back here now and then to see if traffic has picked up here. How did you know to do low FODMAP? I'm just doing AIP but notice I have mucus hanging around in the back of my throat....wondering if that means I need to eliminate more or? I looked in Paleo Approach and it was mentioned as possibly associated with histamines. I'm hoping not as I really love my fish and bacon! Well, if we have a get together, you are certainly invited!

I'm not from Wisconsin (however, I had a pen pal from Milwaukee and visited her there twice!) but wanted to say thanks for posting and I'm glad Paleo neighbors are connecting here. :)The FB group is super busy and I know everyone loves the Facebook format, but you can't create categories, etc. like you can here.

You're right about the categories Tamar and I like that part of this site. I was hoping more wisconsinites would have checked in here since my last post a month ago. Sigh.......... I know there's more out there...guess they'll eventually find their way here. Glad to hear of your Wisconsin connection. Come back some time and see the rest of the state. The landscape is different throughout the state, a big part of its beauty. Think Apostle Islands and Lake Superior! Gorgeous!

I live in the Milwaukee area too (Whitefish Bay). I wish people here were more paleo-aware -- I feel like I'm the only one, so it's nice to see others here! I have two boys, ages nine and three, and we all eat close to paleo. My older son read Liz Wolfe's "Eat the Yolks" over the summer for fun.

I live in southeastern WI, Bristol, down by the IL border. Love Liz Wolfe! I also feel like the only one around. I do know if you get into the cross fit boxes in Kenosha and around that you find the Paleo "atmosphere". I am primarily Paleo, but have taken to saying that I eat real food. We buy grass fed/finished beef from an organic farmer in Delevan, and we buy whole hogs from a local small farmer here. Sometimes we get chicken from them too, but it is so expensive. The price of the beef has increased significantly over the past few years as well. The farmer we use, does not breed there and the replacement animal prices have sky rocketed. I do like supporting local business/farmers. It is so sad to me to see the kids take there kids to McDonalds all the time because it is so cheap, and they don't understand why this Grandma won't go there with them. I really love Sarah and follow her work and podcast. I find myself trusting her and I don't even know her. That to me really speaks of her character, and the awesome work that she does. Hope to communicate with others close by. Oh, I'm a beginner knitter (as knitting was mentioned in the thread:))

Im in Sun Prairie Wi, near Madison. My husband is in the Army and we just moved here 5 months ago. Im only on day 4 of AIP to treat Lupus. My sister suggested a great idea to join a CSA but im still looking for the right one near me. I need grass fed meats, pastured eggs (they don't bother me)and organic produce. I think im getting close but i would love to find one place to get it all from!!! Im so new at this, it's frustrating. Im getting tired of shopping at Woodman's.
