Thought I would start one specific for skin as we can relate. When I started paleo it was to deal with my diabetes which went into full remission within 4months. Psoriasis went down by 75% but wasn't able to get into full remission (we decided to backpack for 4months which turned into 7... Love SE Asia). So home now and ready to fully attach this again and tighten up my paleo and soon AIP again. CanadianKen Remember... Smiles are contagious Let's infect the World.

I am wondering how others are doing with AIP and success with clearing psoriasis. I am 5 weeks in and not really seeing much. My nails are better than they were. My skin? Well one day I think I see improvement and the next day I don't see it. You know how it goes. I have it really bad behind both ears and i do see some improvement on my face. Not quite as flakey or red. Between my shoulders and my knees it is bad, especially my back. Not so bad on arms or below the knees. It is embarrassing to say how bad it is. But I hope to hear about others and if they are having success and what kind of time frame for success. I know everyone does not have the three day cure and I know this is for the long haul. I just feel kind of lonely, especially if I tell someone how I eat.....they think i am crazy.....they cannot dream of a life without Twinkies or all the other chemical and poison drenched foods that we have available out there.....the grocery store has become a scary place full of lethal traps.I venture into the depths only for water and frozen veggies and berries. Even the health food section has icky stuff....except for the flaked coconut....lol. I really do shop mostly the perimeter. And even then you must carry your sword and shield.

Hi victoriap. I've been a AIP (sort of as I didn't know about AIP at the time) for 4months and took another 6months to get to 75% down. I did a number of self tests and posted pics. In the end I'll likely be on a very strict diet for life. If you'd like my year long pictorial (collage) let me know. Argan oil has helped a lot for places like in the ears and behind. Keeps the itch way down. Q-Tip with oil and lube very carefully. CanadianKen Remember... Smiles are contagious Let's infect the World.

Hi! I have psoriasis too. I've been battling it since I was a little girl. (I'm 48), head to toe. The last doc wanted me to do injectables. No thanks. My mom had lymphoma, not a road I want to go down. I lost a lot of weight about 4 years ago. My psoriasis cleared up some. I knew for sure food played a part in it. Just figuring out what food. Divorce, job stress, etc = weight gain and major flare up. Then I discovered AIP. Just like with weight loss - I know I should do it, it's just doing it. I know it helps. Just one month into it I could already see a change. Then major sugar binge, back to square one. So, started over yesterday. No sugar, no grains. Those two seem to be my major triggers. Maybe nightshades - I haven't eaten those in a bit so don't really know.
I read something in another thread - don't stress about stress. I'm trying!

Canadian ken.....do you have a blog I can check out?
Rknight....I had figured out food and/or digestion had something to do with the psoriasis as my would clear a bit with short fasts. I just didn't know where to go with it until I found Sarah's website and the Autoimmune Protocol.

I have Rosacea that is pretty advanced. Not only is it on my face, it's goes into my scalp, neck, décolletage, shoulders, upper and lower arms. Any emotion and my face is a barometer. If the weather gets warmer--barometer. I deal with very painful Rosacea related acne on my face , neck and shoulders. My nose is about three times the size it was 4 years ago. Any suggestions? Thank you all.

Hi all. I have psoriasis too - had since was 12. Now 30. A brief stint with methotrexate when I was 19 and then a Lymes diagnosis sent my skin into full freak out mode. Light therapy cleared it in the past . . . I knew food was a culprit. Went vegan for a time, then Paleo . . . been AIP since January (but just recently cut cocoa - didn't realize it wasn't AIP). My psoriatic arthritis (joint swelling and pain) has improved a lot. I was taking 1/2 NSAID every night before bed so I wouldn't wake up limping. Don't need them anymore and am doing better. Skin I think, is much SLOWER to heal than other things - especially when affected for so long. Being patient. Or trying to. Keep me posted on how you all do with your skin clearing.

Thank you all. Hi Carolesgirl, I also have a mood barometer for a face and painful rosacea...perhaps some psoriasis thrown in for good measure (around my eyebrows and covering my ears). At it's worst, my face has hurt very badly -- and it gets into my eyes which really hurts! There seems to be a very definite connection between gluten (and junk food) and the condition of my face. (Anytime I've been on some version of a gluten free/junk free diet my face gets much better.) I've been Paleo AIP for 6 weeks now. The flaking and sores are clearing up very well (still some around my ears) and the redness is reduced to some degree...though still very red. I'm thinking I'll know when I have finally gotten my systemic inflammation under control when my face is no longer red. (I've been told the redness is an inflammatory response.) Other than the diet, I also put coconut oil on my face/ears (it is soothing and antimicrobial), take 50mg of Zinc a day, and 3g of Vitamin C a day (working up to 5g).
