I found a recipe online for a Sushi Salad and I'm working on modifying it for AIP...there are two ingredients I'm not sure how to best substitute:
rice vinegar wasabi powder
I thought the vinegar could be "white wine" instead of rice or is there another that would be better? And, I'm clueless on what to replace the wasabi with (or is wasabi okay on AIP?).

Check the ingredients on the wasabi powder, but if you can find pure wasabi it's perfectly fine - it's a brassica. If you can't find any (or don't want to pay the premium for quality wasabi), horseradish is a common substitute.
Rice vinegar is mild and a little sweet. There isn't anything that would sub in exactly, but white wine would probably work if you used scant measurements. A fruit vinegar might work well, too.

Excellent! Thanks!
Here is the modified recipe:
Sushi Salad (4 servings)
Ingredients
1 cup cauliflower rice 1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons white wine (or fruit) vinegar 2 tbsp raw sugar OR 1 tbsp honey 11/2 tsps salt 1 tbsp flax seeds (ground) (optional) 3 tbsps coconut oil 2 tbsps ginger (finely chopped pickled) 3 green onions (chopped) 2 carrots (medium, chopped) 1 seedless cucumber (large, peeled and chopped) 2 cans sardines or popcorn shrimp or other fish 2 sheets nori (cut into thin strips, sheets of dried seaweed) 1 avocado (peeled, pitted, and sliced) 2 tsps wasabi powder (if "pure" or can sub in horseradish) 1 tbsp hot water 2 tbsps cold water 2 tbsps coconut aminos 2 tsps ginger juice (squeezed from freshly grated gingerroot)
1. Prepare caulflower rice. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring 1/4 cup vinegar to boil with sugar and salt, stirring until sugar is dissolved and remove from heat.
2. Transfer rice to a large bowl and stir in vinegar mixture. Cool rice and stir in flax seeds, remaining 3 tablespoons vinegar, oil, ginger, green onions, carrot, cucumber, sardines, and nori strips. Top salad with avocado slices.
3. In a small bowl, stir wasabi powder or horseradish into hot water and stir in cold water, coconut aminos, and ginger juice. Drizzle dressing over salad and serve.

Oh, and yes, I know the flaxseeds are technically a no-no on AIP but my FNP has me on them to reduce estrogens. Remove if you choose!

Wasabi should be fine as long as it is pure wasabi (a lot of the "fake" ones are horseradish dyed with green food colouring)... try an asian store to get that.
Rice vinegar you could try some ACV, or maybe a little lemon juice?
I would be careful in that recipe with the pickled ginger as well - most piclked ginger you buy is full of sugar and has been dyed pink with artificial dyes. I couldn't find any that was ok even in the asian grocery stores, so in the end I made my own by putting the ginger in some ACV with a little bit of honey and salt... can't remember the quantities I used though.

I wondered about that, too! Thanks for the info and suggestion. :-)
