My mom also stopped eating grains (but still has dairy and legumes)... it was a big step to cut out the grains... after doing so, she has dropped a few clothing sizes. She must have had a major sensitivity to grains that she never knew about. She said she had wheat one day recently and her fingers got swollen. Some people will say they don't have problems with grains, but they really don't know until they cut it out for a month or so... I usually don't even tell people how I eat unless they ask.

I have pcos & ibs so I am just going to say I eat to try and not have stomach cramps. How can people have a go at me for that? (fingers crossed).
I am going to try very hard not to talk about Paleo.
Though my son and husband may bring it up in the presence of others and that will make it awkward for me.
I have been paleo a few weeks but I don't go out/socialise much so no issues yet LOL!

and I still let my son have white rice, potatoes and dairy - as these are all 'grey' area foods anyway on Paleo and I don't feel he has any reactions. He is currently using up the last of the oats/cereals and then I am going to get creative and make egg muffins or maybe some sort of rice pudding (?!?!) that he can have in the morning before school. Any ideas, hit me with them! It's hard with his lunch boxes and breakfast for him especially (I am NOT a morning person... at ALL!)

When I decided to 'go paleo' last year, I decided that my two categories of "not going to worry about it" were going to be food days at work, and holidays. Well, at the holidays, my mom decided to go completely paleo, so no problem there, and everyone who was at dinner (both Thanksgiving and Christmas) was surprised to discover that absolutely everything on the table worked within my restrictions.
BUT, at work... most people are supportive, so you can imagine my shock when I learned that two of my coworkers (one detests me anyway, so no surprise there, but the other one is someone I trust) were playing PALEO BINGO, based on what I was eating that was not on plan, or how often I talked about it in the office. Given that I have generally only talked about it with a few people, and usually only when it came up in conversation naturally, I was pretty hurt.

Wow, mdv, just wow. People suck sometimes. I just got a cartoon clip in the mail from my aunt with the message "Thought of you!!"-it was a few cavemen sitting around a fire eating enormous drumsticks with their hands. One of them said something like "I'm tired of this caveman diet." Apparently, she thought it was funny. I didn't. I don't know why people think that's all we eat.
