Does this thread not exist yet? Did I miss it? I have a fairly sedentary job (only 2,000 steps per day on average, with lots of sitting/typing), so I try to engage in physical activity daily outside of work. I was doing yoga for awhile but now the classes don't work well with my schedule. Currently I'm walking 45-60 minutes per day- if I'm having a good day I'll alternate between 10 minutes of jogging and walking, but between arthritis and fatigue, it's not always possible (at least not without feeling like I'm overdoing it). I also try to do push-ups and squats a few times per week. I'm a big cyclist, and I'm hoping to be able to do some cycling this summer! I've been making physical activity a priority in the last few months as I've gotten more serious about managing my health holistically. For awhile I was getting really discouraged on "bad days", but now I'm doing a better job of just listening to my body and focusing on doing what I can and what feels good. I'm taking an "every little bit helps" approach. What are you doing to stay active?

I'm a triathlete but that's pretty full on... Something I've been toying with when schedule allows is Nia!! There's "regular" nia which is a dance type discipline, but very purposeful in terms of rehabilitation / strength / flexibility / muscle awakening. But my fave is nia 5 stages and if you've spent much of recent years stiff and in pain, it's an excellent, gentle rehabilitation tool!! I do it as cross training. It's like an hour of mind-body meditation so addresses stress management of AIP as well :-)

I'll love this thread to the exercise board, you can find the board here: thepaleomomcommunity.com/board/74/exercise There have been a few discussions there.

I found that yoga helped me so much - it was like the missing piece of the jigsaw for me and seemed to help me with my anxiety, stress and build strength in my body. I know you said that classes didn't fit very well in your schedule but I just wanted to share that I personally did find it really helpful. I also walk everywhere rather than drive - a brisk walk seems to clear the mind and keep you fit at the same time

Okay I finally carved out time and started working on a routine. As a SAHM, it works great for me. I recently learned in the Thyroid Sessions that HIIT workouts may not be the best for someone with thyroid concerns, not to mention how long it takes for the neurological system to recover from an HIIT workout. So I alternate an intense workout (I do p90x) and a more restorative session the next day (yoga, walking). My energy levels have boosted immensely. I love it. I rest on the weekends though, I might do stretching/take walks, but that's all.

I walk and use a free podcast to do short sessions of yoga so I can fit it into my schedule. I'm also going to start a body weight exercise program so I can build muscle at my own pace, I can do sessions in the park and get some nature time in, and I don't have to worry about going to the gym.
